Boomer was a good dog, truly the definition of man’s best friend. He was a gift from my sister, and was truly a member of the family. He greeted everyone with a wagging tail and licked them until they were slimed, and everyone loved him in kind. He had a habit of making friends with stray dogs and many times took them in, and I would come home to find him at the back door with them as if to ask, “can I keep him?” He got into his share of mischief with skunks, raccoons, foxes, and other critters that happened to cross paths with him. He was large and furry, considered himself a lap dog but I didn’t mind, especially on cold winter nights when the power was out. He is and always will be sorely missed.. The house is lonely and empty without him, and I know he is in a better place now, and I know I will see him again someday. He was a great guard dog, alarm clock, comic relief, hiking companion, and most of all, a loyal friend – truly epitomized the meaning of Saint in Saint Bernard. See you on the other side, buddy.
